The Jackson Laboratory (Bronze Level Sponsor) The Jackson Laboratory (Bronze Level Sponsor)
The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) is a world leader in mammalian genetics and human genomics research. Founded in 1929 in Bar Harbor, Maine, The Jackson Laboratory is an independent, non-profit research institution with locations in Maine, Connecticut, California and Shanghai. Long renowned for its mice and data resources used for biomedical research around the globe, JAX provides a unique bridge across experimental, translational and clinical contexts. JAX researchers combine extensive experience in mammalian genetics and human genomics to shape a unique and integrated approach to personalized medicine. Scientists work collaboratively across disciplines to interrogate disease from all angles, leveraging diverse expertise in cancer, immunology (including diabetes), neurogenetics (including Alzheimer’s disease), life-cycle biology (including development, stem cells, aging and regenerative medicine), the microbiome and computational biology. To date, 26 Nobel prizes are associated with Jackson Laboratory research, education programs and resources.
PROGEN Biotech GmbH (Bronze Level Sponsor) PROGEN Biotech GmbH (Bronze Level Sponsor)
Since 1983, PROGEN has been an established manufacturer and supplier of premium antibodies, in vitro diagnostics, and reagents for the global life science research community. The company’s portfolio attracts and serves a well-diversified clientele in research institutes and universities, pharmaceutical and biotech companies as well as private and clinical laboratories. While PROGEN ’s antibodies are among the most published antibodies in biomedical and cell biology literature, its ELISA kits aim at niche markets in microbiology, infectious diseases, and immunology. Building on its extensive core-competency and experience in immunochemistry, the company has expanded its product and service portfolio in recent years to include recombinant antibody engineering, antibody phage display technology, density gradient media, and AAV (adeno-associated virus) test kits for gene therapy research. BMAS TIP! - If you'd like to perform IHC staining of bone marrow adipocytes, Progen's perilipin antibody (GP29) has been used with great success by our members.
Washington University Musculoskeletal Research Center (Bronze Level Sponsor) Washington University Musculoskeletal Research Center (Bronze Level Sponsor)
The Musculoskeletal Research Center’s primary goal is to support the Research Community in the development, implementation and evaluation of animal models for musculoskeletal biology and medicine. This reflects the collective emphasis of the Research Community in the use of small animal models for basic and pre-clinical musculoskeletal research. Historically, the primary focus of Center investigators has been elucidating the biology and biomechanics of musculoskeletal cells and tissues, including cartilage, bone, tendon, ligament and intervertebral disc. This remains an important thrust of our research. Yet we have broadened our approaches in the past decade to better address musculoskeletal medicine and the development of therapeutic strategies that can be tested initially in small animals. Our basic and translational research efforts will be directed toward an understanding of musculoskeletal biology at the molecular, cellular and tissue levels with the goal that such studies will directly impact our understanding of the pathophysiology of osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, muscular dystrophy, osteochondrodysplasias as well as regeneration of bone, cartilage, tendon and muscle.
BioQuant (Friends of BMAS) BioQuant (Friends of BMAS)
BIOQUANT Image Analysis Corporation develops software and hardware to enable bioscience research in animal models and human biopsy. Our products have specialized protocols for the general bioscience research market, as well as the specific bone biology research market. However, they have been used for applications are varied as space research, industry quality control, anthropology research. BIOQUANT is bringing digital pathology slide scanning tools to basic research labs by lowering equipment costs, expanding imaging capabilities, and simplifying the private sharing and public release of data.
